Job Description:
Role Summary:
The Radiation Oncology Operations Director will report to the SVP, RCM and is responsible for optimizing workflows related to medical documentation and coding across all radiation clinics and EMRs. This role ensures accurate, timely, and compliant documentation, charge capture, coding alignment, while driving consistency across all sites through training, performance management, and continuous process improvement. The position serves as the operational bridge between clinical teams and revenue cycle functions to achieve compliant billing while maximizing financial performance and reducing revenue leakage.
Responsibilities:
Workflow Ownership & Optimization
Serve as the organizational lead to optimize workflows within Radiation Oncology to ensure complaint, timely and accurate documentation and billing.
Collaborate on end-to-end charge capture and documentation workflows across all sites with Radiation Oncology site leadership.
Lead planning, execution, and stabilization of system implementations and workflow changes.
Identify and resolve operational inefficiencies impacting revenue capture and clinical throughput
Standards & Governance

Develop and maintain companywide standards for:
Charge capture workflows
Clinical documentation requirements
CPT coding alignment
ICD-10 coding workflows
Ensure consistent adoption across all centers
Partner with compliance and RCM to maintain regulatory and payer alignment
Training & Education
Design and implement a comprehensive training curriculum across clinical and operational roles
Develop role-specific training materials and system walkthroughs
Deliver hands-on training for new workflows, templates, and system updates
Establish onboarding programs for new hires
Performance Management & Analytics
Define and track key performance metrics including charge lag, missing charges, denial trends, and documentation timeliness and accuracy
Conduct regular audits and identify root causes of performance gaps
Drive corrective action plans and targeted retraining initiatives
Continuous Improvement
Establish recurring education programs including annual refreshers and targeted retraining
Lead continuous process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and revenue capture
Partner with operations leadership to scale best practices across markets
Cross-Functional Alignment
Ensure alignment between clinical workflows and revenue cycle processes
Act as liaison between clinical, RCM, and IT teams
Support system selection, implementation, and future transitions

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
7+ of experience in Radiation Oncology operations.
Deep understanding of charge capture workflows, CPT and ICD-10 coding, and documentation standards
Proven experience leading or supporting EMR, billing system, or workflow implementations, including planning, go‑live execution, stabilization, and end‑user adoption.
Strong working knowledge of healthcare compliance, payer requirements, and audit readiness, with experience partnering with Compliance and RCM teams to maintain standardized practices.
Experience designing and delivering role‑based training programs for clinical and operational staff, including onboarding, workflow changes, and system updates.
Ability to define, track, and interpret operational and revenue cycle metrics (e.g., charge lag, denials, documentation accuracy), conduct root‑cause analysis, and drive corrective actions.
Experience with workflow optimization, system implementation, and training delivery
Experience working cross-functionally with clinical, operational, and RCM teams
Familiarity with coding/workflow platforms preferred

Strong collaboration, verbal, and written communication skills
