Job Description:
The Pharmacy Operations Specialist will report to OneOncology’s Manager, Pharmacy Operations. The ideal candidate will be ready to partner with the OneOncology Clinical Pharmacy Services and Practice Optimization Teams to offer practice support to provide guidance and optimize pharmacy services throughout the OneOncology network. The Pharmacy Operations Specialist will work closely with OneOncology practice leaders to assist in implementing pharmacy operational initiatives to achieve pharmacy organizational goals. Pharmacy Operations Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting the success of pharmacy services and supporting the highest level of patient care and operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
Assist in implementing the strategies developed to enhance retail pharmacy/in-office dispensing (IOD) operations.
Assist with evaluating and making recommendations for pharmacy operations at the local practice level based on best practices surrounding USP 795, 797 and 800 and retail/IOD pharmacy rules and regulations.
Provide guidance and recommendations on regulatory requirements in community oncology pharmacy operations (i.e. requirements and timing for USP800).
Help to create a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and collaboration amongst the OneOncology Pharmacy Network to ensure success in achieving the OneOncology Pharmacy organizational goals.
Assist with the development of policies, procedures, and training tools for pharmacy operations to standardize across OneOncology to allow for customization at the practice level.
Audit practice preferred drug utilization and inventories within dispensing cabinets across all OneOncology practices and assist in making recommendations to achieve established benchmarks.
Serve as a liaison between OneOncology practices and Cencora to help address and/or surface any practice needs and/or concerns surrounding drug shortages, shipments and/or retail/IOD pharmacy initiatives.
Assist with implementation of pharmacy operations quality assurance programs.
Works collaboratively with the Clinical Pharmacy Services Team at corporate and practice level as a pharmacy operations subject matter expert for incoming operational information requests.
Assist in evaluating and implementing pharmacy technologies to improve OneOncology practice pharmacy operations.
Support the OneOncology Pharmacy Committee by acting as an active member with operational expertise.
Other duties as assigned to help drive our mission of improving the lives of everyone living with cancer.
Key Competencies
Knowledge of cancer medications
Knowledge of retail pharmacy/IOD procedures and operations
Knowledge of USP 795, 797 and 800
Ability to use computers and software applications (MS Office products)
Excellent written and oral communication
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Exceptional interpersonal and problem-solving skills
Qualifications
3-5 years of experience as pharmacy technician or in similar role
Pharmacy Technician License required
Experience with Flatiron Health OncoEMR software and pharmacy adjudication software
Knowledge of retail pharmacy regulations, workflows and accreditation standards preferred
Experience with automated dispensing cabinet technology (Nucleus preferred)
