Position: Assistant General Counsel
Monogram is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to act in an in-house attorney role that will report to the Associate General Counsel | Chief Commercial and Regulatory Counsel of Monogram Health, Inc. and will be a key member of the legal team. This role is a generalist position that will require judgment, multi-tasking and both strategic and "in-the-weeds" work. The ideal candidate will have previous in-house experience and/or four or more years' experience at a leading corporate law firm. This attorney will be responsible for contracting and transaction initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have broad familiarity with the laws and regulations governing the activities of the company, a strong professional presence, and the demonstrated ability to effectively negotiate contracts.
Responsibilities:
- Negotiating and drafting agreements and contracts on behalf of the company, including commercial vendor contracts, client agreements, leasesand technology licenses
- Offering counsel on a variety of legal and compliance issues, including healthcare regulatory matters (especially privacy issues); contractual matters, including potential risks and liabilities; corporate organization; and litigation management
- Collaborating with senior executives and departments within the company on important strategic initiatives
- Researching and anticipating unique legal and healthcare regulatory/compliance issues that could impact the company
- Using independent judgement to escalate important legal and compliance issues to the company's governing body
Key Requirements:
- J.D. from a recognized university and licensed to practice law
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively with others at all levels of the organization
- Strong negotiating skills with both legal and financial/ commercial issues
- Sharp attention to detail
- Managed care experience is preferred, in particular negotiation of value-based care agreements
- General knowledge of healthcare regulatory law, in particular fraud and abuse laws, HIPAA and privacy matters, Medicare Advantage and Medicaid obligations, and corporate practice of medicine
- Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships within the organization across all businesses
