ABOUT THE ROLE
Position Summary
The Staff Accountant plays a vital role in maintaining the integrity of our financial records, supporting payroll and Accounts Payable along with executing month-end close processes and supporting financial analysis. This position is ideal for an detail-oriented accounting professional looking to expand their skills within a collaborative and progressive financial environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for executing general accounting functions, including but not limited to:
- Payroll & AP Operations: Execute the daily operations for accounts payable and payroll processing, ensuring timely payments and accurate records. Prepare reconciliations at the line-item level and troubleshoot discrepancies identified within the AP or payroll modules.
- General Ledger Maintenance: Prepare and record journal entries; maintain and reconcile ledger accounts to ensure financial accuracy.
- Month-End Close: Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes, adhering strictly to corporate deadlines.
- Account Reconciliations: Perform monthly bank, credit card, and balance sheet account reconciliations, identifying and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Financial Analysis: Assist in variance analysis and support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Compliance & Audit: Maintain accounting records in accordance with GAAP; compile and provide documentation for internal and external auditors.
ABOUT YOU
Your Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 1- 3 years of progressive accounting experience. Payroll and Accounts Payable experience is a plus. Role offers career track to senior accountant and accounting manager.
Your Competencies
- Solid comprehension of GAAP, general ledger maintenance, bank reconciliations, and month-end close procedures.
- Exposure to processing payroll and/or accounts payable. Paylocity, Stampli or Ramp experience is a plus.
- Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, data formulas) and exposure to ERP software like Sage Intacct, NetSuite, SAP or Oracle
- High level of attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Ability to work 100% remote and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
